ERIC CLAPTON & FRIENDS – THE BREEZE – AN APPRECIATION OF JJ CALE
Un disque hommage à JJ Cale mais alors quel disque !! Déjà c’est Eric Clapton avec ses « friends » et quels « friends » !! Mark Knopfler en tête… avec sa guitare magique ! Et aussi Tom Petty, Willie Nelson, John Mayer…
Un an après le décès du grand bluesman, Eric Clapton a donc décidé de reprendre 16 chansons de JJ Cale en bonne compagnie, hommage à celui qui fut leur « maître » en musique.
Clapton a d’ailleurs déjà repris un morceau de Cale qui devint un de ses plus grands succès : « Cocaïne »…
« Le clip de « Call me the Breeze » (ci-dessous) qui ouvre cet album fait référence à l’album Escondido (sur lequel Clapton jouait !), dans un road trip nostalgique , qui foisonne d’images d’archives du guitariste disparu. « Call me the Breeze » ouvrait « Naturally », l’album des débuts de J.J.Cale en 1972, un morceau repris plus tard par Lynird Skynird, Johnny Cash et John Mayer .
